Laganas gets bigger and more lively year on year. There's a long sandy bay with a one mile strip of bars, nightlife and restaurants. Laganas beach reaches the sister resorts of Lithakia at the western end of the beach and Kalamaki at the eastern end of the beach. Behind the beach lie bars and eating places, so taking a bar snack or a quiet drink will not interrupt your tanning schedule. So this pretty much sums up the style of of a Laganas holiday, unwinding days after the night before, cool drinks at a beachfront bar and then the party starts up once more at the Strip. The real action commences after the sun drops below the horizon. This is when the Laganas party lifestyle kicks off. Younger revellers begin moving into the eateries, pubs and clubs in central Laganas en masse. The selection of Laganas restaurants is extremely varied, anything from fast food to Italian, Chinese, Indian and even the odd Greek Taverna. Famous pubs and clubs include Rescues nightclub, Geezers Club, the classic Ghetto Club, Must Sports Bar and Bad Boys Cocktail Bar. The list of pubs and clubs goes on and on. You will find it difficult to do them all on your holiday. Holidaymakers considering going on a holiday in Laganas Zakynthos are very unlikely to be wanting a quiet night in with a good read!.

The beach at Laganas is a major nesting site for increasingly rare Loggerhead turtles (Caretta-Caretta). Loggerheads come ashore on certain nights to lay and bury their eggs in the beach. Watersports activities are virtually restricted in this bay to maintain the environment for the turtles. The bay of Laganas has three islands the most widely known of which is called Marothonisi. This island has a gorgeous secluded beach and this is another vital egg-laying site for the Loggerheads. Strangely enough, Marathonesi also is shaped like a turtle and is frequently called Turtle Island. Marathonisi is completely uninhabited but it is possible to visit via boat excursions which run from Laganas or altrnatively from Zante Town. Agios Sostis is a very tiny islet accessible via a walkway. Agios Sostis features a tiny beach and is also the home of a nightclub. The 3rd island is known as Pelouzo which can be spotted on the north side of the bay.

Laganas is the largest and most happening resort in Zante (aka Zakynthos) and offers plenty of bars, nightclubs and tavernas. Laganas is definitely one of the best and most well known clubbing destinations on the Med and is a magnet for largely young people from the UK. Laganas's party season runs from April and carrys on on right through until October. Its amazing to believe that only twenty years previously that this place was only a small greek hamlet and today it has become the biggest party resort on Zante. If you book up for Laganas you can certainly expect a wild holiday.

Having said all that, there are a few pockets of peacefulness at some Laganas hotels, such as the Hotel Louis Zante Beach or the Zante Atlantis hotel. Both of these hotels offer family-friendly facilities out of earshot but just an easy walk from central Laganas.

The Laganas weather is nearly always sunny throughout the Summer. There is an extensive range of cheap apartments in Laganas, so it should be possible to remain within your budget whatever it's level. Holidays to Laganas are frequently offered on some fantastic last minute deals, so there is a real likelyhood of getting yourself an amazing inexpensive Laganas holiday.
